May 5: Moodle Overview

May 12: Adding Resources in Moodle
The Resource module allows instructors to add information to Moodle in a variety of ways. This session will demonstrate how to upload and link various file types in Moodle, and explore additional tools that can be used to post information to a course.

May 19: Creating Assignments and Discussion Forums in Moodle
- The assignment activity module allows instructors to collect work from students, review the work, and provide feedback/grades. This session will provide you with information on creating and grading the five assignment types that are available in Moodle.
- Learn how to add, manage, and communicate using Moodle discussion forums (similar to a discussion board in Blackboard). This session will show you how to create, participate in, and grade a forum.

You may register for the Moodle Moot Webinar Series on the SELSC Moodle site. A course named Moodle Training Series (located in the Training category) contains a “Choice” for each of the sessions. To register, click on the name of the session, select Yes…I would like to attend, and save your choice.
You will be asked to enter an enrollment key to enter the course on your first access. The enrollment key is moodle.
Handouts for each of the sessions will be placed in the Moodle Training Series course.

Do you need an account on Moodle?
The Moodle Moot Webinar Series is hosted on a Moodle site. You can create a Moodle account by going to http://lamug.selsc.net/, click on Login (located at the top right portion of the screen), click on New Account, fill in the required information, and click Create my new account.
After you have confirmed your account via email, you will login to Moodle, click on the Training Category, click on the course named Moodle Training Series, and enter the word moodle when prompted for the enrollment key. You will then have full access to registration and resources.
Elluminate
To attend the Moodle sessions, click on the Elluminate link (located in the Moodle Training Course) and follow the prompts. Please enter your first and last name in the Elluminate session log in box.
To fully participate in the session, you will need a headset with microphone. With speakers you will be able to hear the conference call, and you may ask questions and make comments in the chat window.
Verify Java Version and Test a Connection to Elluminate.
Installation of the latest version of Java is necessary to participate in the session. If you would like to verify the Java version before the session, please click on Elluminate Testing Link and complete Steps 1 and 2 under the First Time Users heading. This is a testing link only; the meeting will be held on the Moodle Moot Elluminate Link.
